Team and Process Management
• Lead the Accounting team, ensuring their productivity, quality, abilities and compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
• Maximize the effective use of resources available, including workload analysis, productivity measures and other best practice methodologies
• Develop and implement process improvements that deliver efficiencies for country offices and the GSSC
• Ensure efficiency of the processes being managed and that transition of new processes are implemented successfully

Transaction Processing
• Responsible for timely processing of financial transactions for the unit
• Successfully manage processing issues in area of responsibility with corrective action taken/guidance implemented as necessary
• Ensure suitable technical assistance and training is provided to team members based on existing UNICEF policies and procedures, tools and methodologies

Troubleshooting
• Proactively identify and resolve processing issues, especially peak volumes, developing trends, returns, capacity, and transitioning of new service areas
• Undertake and react to analysis of processing issues, escalate and solicit explanation about variances and anomalies
• Act as subject matter expert for VISION issues relating to area of responsibility within GSSC

• Monitor service request queues and ensure Service Response Times (SRTs) are being met for individual transactions being processed and that overall the Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are being achieved

• Support and lead cross stream or section project improvements at the GSSC

• Lead stream and develop staff through coaching and mentoring

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…
• University Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related degree discipline
• Qualified membership in an internationally recognized professional finance body, such as ACCA/ ICAEW/ CIMA/ CIPFA/ CPA
• A minimum of 8 years of managerial work experience within the areas of Accounting, Finance and Audit at the national and international level
• Managerial experience and successful achievements in the following areas:
-Leading Project Management and Change Management, including Process Improvement
-Team leadership and people development for medium team size
-Accounting policy development, interpretation and implementation
-Providing effective transactional support to stakeholders
• Detailed understanding and hands on experience of both SAP and IFRS/IPSAS
• Knowledge and experience in the implementation of risk control frameworks such as COSO
• Demonstrated examples of proactivity, delivering innovative solutions of a significant nature, driving change, and implementation
• Strong communication and excellent interpersonal and presentation skills
• Results orientation and knowledge of productivity and efficiency measurements
• Ability to organize, prioritize, and deliver under pressure
• Interest in the mission of UNICEF, integrity of its processes and development of its staff
• Enthusiastic team player, who is flexible, always ready to take on new challenges and drives for results in flexible with an expanding environment
• Fluency in English is required. Fluency in other UN Language (Russian, Chinese, Arabic, Spanish, French) is desirable.
