OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

The Information and Technologies Management Unit (ITM) provides information and technologies management services to WHO programmes, including the Inter Country Support Team Offices (IST), and 47 WHO country offices in the African region. The Unit is also responsible for the formulation, implementation, and coordination of ICT strategies and policies in the region.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

Under the supervision of the Corporate & Health Information Systems Engineering and Support officer, the Health Information Systems Engineering & Support assistant will perform the following responsibilities--> Ensure system availability, functionality, accessibility and operational efficiency;--> Create and execute scripts;--> Perform backup and recovery duties;--> Monitor Database Applications Server's Health and tuning accordingly;--> Monitors the server Performance and activity;--> Implement security measures for software environments to prevent fraudulent use; escalate complex issues;--> Document all activities and produce reports;--> Maintain technical documentation;--> Provide assistance to user and application programmers on system software matters--> Act as first level support on specified application(s) (e.g.: OpenBee, Tableau, Power BI etc.) by identifying complex problems and proposing solutions. Ensure service quality is upheld;--> Monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) using available Business Intelligence tools (e.g. POWER BI, TABLEAU); --> Contribute in developing AFRO Management dashboards based on GSM and other systems data collections;--> Coordinate activities towards expending the use of specified information systems and Business Intelligence platforms in the Office; --> Contribute in the administration of the GSM Regional Data Hub and in supporting the development of management reports when necessary.--> Contribute to the development, test and deployment of web applications on .Net/SharePoint/IIS environments--> Monitor the licenses being used at the Office, ensuring that all software being used on the Organization's computers is supported by a current license held by ITM;--> Assist clusters in the evaluation and/or deployment of new health technical systems and provide subsequent maintenance and support

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Essential: Secondary School Diploma with some training in computer science, electrical engineering, information systems or related field, or equivalent in training and self-study.
Desirable: Microsoft Certifications Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), ITIL (IT service management) certified, PRINCE2 certified

Experience

Essential: 8 years experience in Information Systems, Computer Science etc. Experience in database design & administration.
Desirable: TABLEAU Software, MS POWER BI and/or other dashboard creation/management solutions knowledge.

Skills

--> Demonstrated ability to effectively use different and complex methodologies related to programming, business intelligence tools, etc…; --> Thorough knowledge and experience in database (MS SQL Server) and collaborative tools (e.g. Documents Workflow Systems, MS SharePoint)

REMUNERATION

WHO offers staff in the General Services category an attractive remuneration package, which for the above position includes an annual net base salary starting at XAF 12,774,000 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
