Under the overall authority of the Director and direct supervision of the Chief of IIEP Documentation Centre, and within the framework of IIEP’s mandate and Medium-Term Strategy, the incumbent will be in charge of Metadata and Systems. S/he will promote and facilitate the use of IIEP information and knowledge assets, both externally and internally. In particular, s/he will:
- Design and manage curation and discovery tools to ensure an optimal sharing of IIEP self-created or collected knowledge.
- Manage catalog data, establishing and documenting all necessary policies and procedures; oversees production and quality control functions.
- Perform original or copy cataloguing work.
- Monitor and manage outsourced contract cataloguing.
- Ensure interoperability and cross-search between IIEP databases, using standard UN tools when existing or developing ad-hoc ones.
- Have responsibility for the overall administration, customization, and troubleshooting of the library’s integrated system; provide technical expertise and support to colleagues.
- Evaluate and implement new technologies and web applications to enhance services to IIEP staff and Library users.
- Collaborate with other IIEP teams to manage or create information portals.
- Train and support librarians in IIEP partner institutions.
- Support routine library services for the Institute.
