Responsibilities
Within delegated authority, the reviser will perform following duties:
- Translates, mostly without revision, and revise, often under tight schedules, texts of sensitive, complex or technical nature covering a broad range of subjects dealt with by the United Nations, particularly those requiring demonstrated experience and recognised proficiency;
- Conducts terminological research and prepares terminology materials to meet the needs of the Service.
- Counsels and assists translators and brief them on the procedures and practices of the Service, terminology and a broad range of subjects as required;
- Supervises and coordinates the work of small groups of translators;
- Performs other duties as required.

Education
A first-level university degree from a university or from an institution of equivalent status. Must have passed the United Nations Competitive Examination for Arabic-language translators.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of experience in translation, including preferably three years of experience in translation within the United Nations or similar international organization is required. Experience with the United Nations or similar international organizations' language-related IT resources and tools is required. Experience in self–revision is desirable.
Languages
A thorough command of Arabic, which must be the candidate's main language, and excellent knowledge of English is required. Excellent knowledge of another UN official languages will be an asset.
