Nawamis Society for Development in South Sinai is a small local organization that supports Bedouin communities through seeking to end illiteracy, and through the promotion of community development, education, and health, particularly for Bedouin women and children.

Nawamis’ vision is to completely eradicate illiteracy in south Sinai, and to empower the community to actively improve their living conditions, quality of life, and access to education. Nawamis seeks to fulfill this vision through non-formal educational activities and material and immaterial aid that can help address local challenges faced by Bedouin women, children, and families. Currently, Nawamis is seeking a Projects Assistant, based in our headquarter offices in Mohandiseen, Cairo. The position includes regular travel with the team to South Sinai. The Projects Assistant should be an energetic self-starter with the ability to take responsibility for the quality of the outcomes of their work, and should be committed to effective and meaningful development work. The role is part-time, but a full-time position with additional responsibilities assisting the chairman and the office may be possible depending on the applicant.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Pro-actively contribute to and follow-up on day-to-day project implementation
  • Maintain organizational and project records
  • Make logistical and administrative arrangements for project activities
  • Conduct research; draft and compile reports as assigned
  • Maintain and improve social media presence and engagement
  • Conduct translation between English and Arabic as needed
  • Special projects as assigned  
The Program Assistant should demonstrate competence in the following:

  • Solve Problems: Assess problem situations to identify causes, gather and process relevant information, generate possible solutions, and make recommendations and/or resolve the problem.
  • Stay Organized: Show independent ability to organize work flow, set and meet deadlines, manage time wisely, handle multiple projects or assignments at once, and ensure all projects receive quality care and attention.
  • Demonstrated commitment to and understanding of the unique challenges presented in the development of south Sinai as well as the vision & mission of Nawamis Society for Development.


Requirements:
  • University degree
  • Experience in and exposure to related development work
  • IT Skills (Facebook, Microsoft Word, Powerpoint & Excel)
  • Fluency in English and Arabic (speaking, reading & writing)
  • Able to travel to south Sinai on a regular basis
