Eurojust is launching a selection procedure to establish a reserve list and fill one vacant post in the position of Press Officer (AD 5).
The Press Officer will carry out press and media activities to ensure an effective online presence and raise the media profile of Eurojust. The Press Officer will report to the Head of the Corporate Communications Unit.
The Corporate Communications Unit supports Eurojust by managing external and internal communication, providing related services such as graphic design and proofreading, and managing information resources such as the website, the intranet, the library and the knowledge management interface of Eurojust.

Key accountabilities
The successful candidate will perform the following activities:
- Establish proactive communication campaigns and strategic media activities;
- Develop sustained relationships with key media outlets and journalists;
- Support Eurojust post-holders and Members of the College in media appearances and arrange and prepare interviews as appropriate;
- Organise press conferences and press trips in conjunction with high-level events at Eurojust;
- Monitor media coverage and prepare regular evaluation reports;
- Write press releases, articles and statements for a variety of publications and audiences and liaise with various operational units within Eurojust for the necessary preparation;
- Monitor and respond to media requests;
- Contribute to an effective online corporate presence, including producing up-to-date and engaging content on the Eurojust website and, where appropriate, for communication via social media channels;
- Maintain effective relationships with the press offices of relevant external stakeholder organisations including European Institutions and the national authorities of Member States.

The Press Officer will occasionally be on call to deal with urgent media enquiries during evenings and weekends. 

Eligibility criteria
The selection procedure is open to applicants who satisfy the following eligibility criteria on the closing date for applications:

1. General requirements
You must:
- Be a national of one of the Member States of the European Union;
- Enjoy full rights as a citizen;
- Have fulfilled any obligations imposed by the laws concerning military service;
- Produce the appropriate character references as to his/her suitability for the performance of his/her duties;
- Be physically fit to perform his/her duties; and
- Have a thorough knowledge (C1) of one of the languages of the European Union and a satisfactory knowledge (B2) of another language of the European Union to the extent necessary for the performance of his/her duties.

2. Minimum qualifications and professional experience
To be eligible, you must have a level of education which corresponds to completed university studies of at least 3 years attested by a diploma.
Only qualifications  that  have  been  awarded  in  EU  Member  States  or  that  are  subject  to  an equivalence certificate issued by a designated national authority in an EU Member States will be taken into consideration.
If your diploma was issued outside the EU, you must provide a certificate of equivalency from an authorised authority in an EU Member State to recruitment@eurojust.europa.eu by the closing date for applications.

Selection process1. Shortlisting
The Selection Board will assess all eligible applications on the basis of the following criteria:

Required experience and knowledge
- At least 3 years of professional experience and knowledge in the areas mentioned under “key accountabilities”;
- A Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications, Media, Business Administration or similar;
- Strong hands-on experience in building sustained relationships with media;
- Experience managing online communication platforms, writing web content and drafting press releases;
- Fluency (C1) in English, as this is the vehicular language of Eurojust.

Advantageous- Professional qualifications or training in a communications field;
- Experience in designing and producing graphic communication material (i.e visuals, infographics, presentations, videos) in particular for online publication;
- Knowledge of French and/or German.

2. Interview and written test
Following this assessment, the highest ranking candidates will be invited for  an interview and written test, during which the following competencies will be evaluated:
- Technical competencies related to the position;
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to draft clear and concise documents of complex matters for various audiences;
- Strong results orientation and drive to achieve goals;
- High degree of political sensitivity;
- Ability to work well under pressure and effectively manage priorities;
- A keen eye for detail and the ability to maintain quality standards and accuracy under time pressure.

On the day of the interview, applicants must bring copies of all the supporting documents concerning their educational qualifications and employment record.
Following the interview and written test, the Selection Board will make a proposal to the Administrative Director on the establishment of a reserve list of suitable candidates, which will be valid until 31 December 2020. Inclusion in the reserve list does not guarantee recruitment.

Contractual conditionsThe Administrative Director will appoint the successful candidate as a member of the temporary staff pursuant to Article 2(f) of the Conditions of employment of other servants of the European Union, for a period of up to five years.

Temporary staff are required to serve a probationary period of nine months.
