Responsibilities:
- Assist with logistical arrangements for visiting delegations and international conferences
- Assist with booking international travel
- Assist in interacting with VIPs
- Draft correspondence to external organizations and contacts
- Research issues of interest to legislatures
- Draft blog posts and assist the Governance team with social media accounts
- Update computerized database of experts and trainers
- Update files on countries/programs
- Conduct special projects as needed
- Assist in providing administrative support to the Governance team with duties such as scheduling, filing, copying, and mailings
- Record minutes/notes of in-house meetings and draft summary memos
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree in development studies, public policy, international affairs, political science, or a related field; or equivalent experience
- Ability to interact effectively with staff and stakeholders
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Demonstrated resourcefulness and ability to solve problems creatively
- Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail
- Good oral and written communication skills to present information effectively and respond to questions
- Capacity to work both independently and as a member of a team
- Working knowledge of PC-based word processing and spreadsheet applications
- Basic accounting skills
Desired Skills:
- Foreign-language skills
- Experience with event planning
- Familiarity with USG grant programs, regulations, visa processes, etc.
- Exposure to legislative processes
- Demonstrated interest in digital media and governance innovation
- Graphic-design and/or multimedia production
- Experience with budgeting and accounting procedures
- Experience with Google Apps (Gmail, Calendar, Google Drive, G+, etc.)
