Purpose of the position
The Fall Gala Intern will support the Development Department and the Making Medical History Gala Team. This position will be responsible for assisting the Senior Development Advisor and the events team with the Gala programme in planning and executing the event. DNDi is looking for a creative, enthusiastic person who is available 2 days per week. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in the non-profit healthcare sector and global health, and have excellent communication skills and a passion for helping others.
Specific job responsibilities
- Provide logistics support, marketing, day-of duties, and post-event follow up related to the Making Medical History Gala and supporting events
- Assist in the research, outreach, and recruitment of corporate and individual sponsors and attendees
- Assist with all mailings and e-blasts including save-the-dates, invitations, and other digital and print materials
- Assist with tracking and database entry of all registration and guest information
- Provide administrative and office assistance for monthly steering committee meetings
- Provide support for DNDi presence at other public events
Job requirements
Skills and attributes
- Excellent customer service skills including verbal, written, and interpersonal communication
- Detail-oriented and strong organizational skills; able to follow direction and complete projects on time
- Ability to multi-task
- Competency in Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint — graphic design skills a plus
- Some knowledge of Salesforce or similar customer relationship management (CRM) database a plus
Experience
- Experience working in public or private sector is highly desirable
- Experience working on gala or other large-scale fundraising events
- Professional or volunteer experience in non-profit fundraising, marketing, communications and/or health education
Education
- Minimum two years undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a degree in Global Health, Marketing, Communications, Non-Profit Fundraising, Event Planning, or other related fields
