Position Summary
The Acting European Affairs and Partnership Manager leads the European Affairs and Partnerships team (EAP) and is part of the Global Affairs and Partnerships team (GAP). S/he works to support business development efforts across the organization. This position will provide maternity leave coverage for Search’s European Affairs and Partnerships Manager and will provide surge support to GAP staff in DC.
Key Responsibilities
Internal capacity building and support
  • Provide advice on fundraising, donor requirements, and proposal components to Search’s regional, country, and thematic teams
  • Track donor policies and priorities
  • Lead the development of global proposals, as needed 
  • Edit and contribute to proposals for a variety of governmental, multilateral, and foundation donors
  • Update and curate knowledge management tools
  • Analyze fundraising trends within the organization and provide data for Search’s Executive Team and Board
    Relationship-building
    • Execute Search’s European Strategy: lead organizational fundraising priority engagement with European governments and the EU
    • Represent Search at public and private meetings, events, roundtables, and network meetings
    Management
    • Manage the EAP team
    • Liaise with GAP team members in DC
    • Represent the GAP team in internal meetings

    Ideal Experience
    Education
    • Bachelor’s or Master’s in conflict resolution, international relations, or related field
    Experience
    • Minimum 8 years (in case of Bachelor’s degree) or 6 years (in case of Master’s degree) of experience with business development and partnerships
    • Solid track record of effective engagement with donors – including European donors
    • Experience with EU funding mechanisms
    • Demonstrated ability to effectively work with a diverse team and manage staff
    • Demonstrated proposal writing experience.
    Skills and knowledge
    • Excellent writing, editing, and communications skills.
    • Excellent written and spoken English. Other EU languages appreciated.
    • Knowledge of conflict resolution and peacebuilding organizations and programming.
