The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine is a world-leading centre for research and postgraduate education in public and global health.
We wish to appoint a proactive Research Funding Officer to provide comprehensive pre-award support to the MRC African Units. The post holder will be responsible for assessing and providing advice on the costing and pricing of research applications. Led by a Research Funding Manager they will work as part of a team of four other funding officers and will hold an area of specialist expertise in one or more major funders of research. The post holder will also have responsibility for the financial management of a small portfolio of complex research projects at post-award stage and will act in an advisory to members of the post-award Finance team on funding issues linked to their specialism. 
This is a busy and varied role in a customer-focused environment working with a range of research funder’s online systems, such as JE-S, Grants.Gov and ECAS. This role will suit someone with strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interpret and explain complex funder policies to non-specialists. 
The successful candidate will hold an undergraduate degree and have significant experience of working within a research finance role, ideally in a higher education environment. They will be able to prioritise their workload effectively to meet deadlines, to work independently and to demonstrate a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

The post is full-time and permanent. The salary will be on the Professional Support Pathway Grade 6 scale in the range £38,553 to £43,759 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service.  Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Director’s Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London, Keppel Street.
