We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic health economics researcher at Research Fellow level to the Department of Global Health and Development (GHD) to work on a project aiming to expedite and inform the introduction of Oral HIV Self-testing in Southern Africa. 
The post-holder will support an intervention trial in Malawi and related research in southern Africa on oral-fluid HIV self-testing, will be expected to contribute to the development of research to inform global health policy around the introduction of HIVST in collaboration with colleagues from the Social and Mathematical Epidemiology (SaME) group in GHD, the Department of Infectious Disease Epidemiology, the Department of Clinical Research, Population Services International (PSI) and in-country partners, including the Malawi-Liverpool-Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Programme (MLW).  
The successful candidate will have a Masters’ degree in health economics, development economics, international development or other relevant area, a strong record in the design and management of economics and epidemiological studies, including intervention trials, in the field of HIV and proven ability to initiate studies in short periods of time with minimal oversight, academic training in applied microeconomics and econometrics and practical experience in health economics, particularly in behavioural economics, choice modelling or cost modelling, relevant experience living and working in sub-Saharan Africa and the ability to be based in Malawi for a significant portion of the project. The successful candidate should also have an emerging record of peer-review publications and an interest in registering for and undertaking a part-time doctoral degree. The post, based initially in Malawi for 6-12 months and subsequently in London (Tavistock Place), is funded until 31st July 2019, commencing as soon as possible. The salary will be on the Academic scale, Grade 6 scale in the range £38,533 − £43,759 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service.  Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Director’s Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available.
