Save the Children International is the world’s leading independent organisation for children. We work in 120 countries and work, together with our partners, to inspire breakthroughs in the way the world treats children and to achieve immediate and lasting change in their lives.
In Egypt, Save the Children International has been working to ensure that children’s rights are respected, protected and promoted since 1982. We carry out both long-term development work and, more recently emergency humanitarian work.
This project aims to improve social and economic resilience of children and youth at risk of unsafe migration from Egypt. The project targets host communities, migrants and refugees living in greater-Cairo through providing a holistic child protection case management service and psychosocial support for vulnerable children and their parents.
ROLE PURPOSE:
This position will be primarily responsible for conducting individual case management for Egyptian, migrant and refugee children. This post requires frequent travel in Greater Cairo as interviews may take place in SC different field offices and other premises.
SCOPE OF ROLE:
Reports to: Child Protection Officer (Case Management)
Staff directly reporting to this post: None
Responsibilities
  • Conducting assessment interviews and draft relevant reports to assess the children’s needs;
  • Providing full case management support to individual children;
  • Counselling of applicants and caregiver/parents on the assessment procedures and services provided;
  • Conducting a Best Interest Assessment (BIA) and where applicable, Best Interest Determination (BID) for identified children;
  • Development and implementation of detailed care plans;
  • Making timely referrals to appropriate services and coordinating with partner organisations;
  • Accompanying children when necessary to external appointments with service providers;
  • Updating records and preparing periodic reports on caseload;
  • Following-up and monitoring on individual cases;
  • Supporting the program teams as necessary;
  • Ensuring Case Management is implemented in-line with Save the Children’s policies and procedures, and adhere to donor requirements and guidelines

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Educational Background:
  • Psychology, Sociology, Development, Political Science and related studies
Essential:
  • 0 -2 years of previous relevant experience
  • Sensitivity to needs of vulnerable individuals
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work with highly vulnerable groups
  • Awareness about the security context and political situation in Egypt for refugees
  • Able to work effectively within a team and/or individually
  • Well organised with strong time-management skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Shares Save the Children’s vision and values
Desirable:
  • Previous experience working with refugees;
  • Previous experience working with NGOs.
Language:
  • Proficiency in Arabic and English, written and spoke is a must.
