JOB PURPOSE
In the execution of the iCSP/CSP, the corresponding financial framework and business processes have undergone major changes; the business support assistant will support programme’s budgetary needs.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)
  1. Assist Programme unit in compiling budgetary requirements for the implementation segment of the budget.
  2. Assist relevant focal point on cross-checking with AOs and programme subunits to ensure that all plan submissions have been enacted on time.
  3. Assist focal point on highlighting duplications and missing elements on budget plans, and identify simple discrepancies in statistics and data and report to senior staff.
  4. Track programme expenditures against each line item.
  5. Compile budget expenditures on a bi-weekly basis for further analysis by relevant focal points.
  6. Track expenditures against plan on an ad-hoc basis with relevant units should any discrepancies arise, as identified by the units.
  7. File records in a timely manner and transport all programme-related documents to the relevant units.
  8. Respond to queries and escalate where appropriate, in order to provide a timely and accurate service to clients.
  9. Support processing and managing routine administrative and financial tasks to contribute to the effective and timely management of resources.
  10. Work with a variety of individuals, taking on feedback where appropriate to assist in business support delivery for staff.
  11. Perform other related duties as required.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Secondary school education with minimum 4 years of work experience ;or first university degree in International Affairs, Economics, Statistics, Nutrition/Health, Agriculture, Environmental Science, Social Sciences or other field relevant to international development assistance would be highly preferred with 2 years of work experience.
Lnaguge: English language is the working language of WFP Sudan for the post advertised. Fluency in Arabic is required due to the work in the field. Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantag
DESIRED WORK EXPERIENCES:
  • Experience in handling budget planning and expenditures.
FUNCTIONAL CAPABILITIES
  • Proficient in the use of office equipment and computer software packages, such as Microsoft Word.
  • Knowledge of work routines and methods in order to complete processes under minimal supervision.
  • Uses tact and courtesy to give and receive information to a wide range of individuals.
  • Ability to identify data discrepancies and rectify problems requiring attention.
